My name is Addison Litman, and I’m a student at Grace Church High School in New York City with an unweighted GPA of about 3.7. I’m part of the Class of 2027 and plan to take a gap year, riding full-time before joining a collegiate equestrian team in the 2028 recruiting year. I’ve been riding since I was five years old and started competing on the A circuit around five years ago. Horses have always been a central part of my life — they keep me grounded and focused, and I credit my time at the barn with helping me stay balanced in school and beyond. I love being part of a team, and I’m excited to continue that in college — training with new coaches, learning from more experienced teammates, and developing my skills on a variety of horses.
I currently train with Jennifer Bowery at Oceans Edge Farm, and lease three incredible horses: Cloud 9 (“Carl”), Corochino Z (“Beckham”), and Blue Sky (“Bluie”). Over the last two years, I’ve had strong results in the 3’3” junior hunters, including top 20 overall finishes at Junior Hunter Finals in both 2024 and 2025. In 2024, I was 10th overall in the younger small juniors, and in 2025, I placed 13th overall in the younger large juniors, with an 8th in the handy round. That same year, I also earned an 18th overall in the small juniors with a 9th place finish in the classic. I’ve consistently earned top ribbons at WEF, Old Salem, Devon, Harrisburg, Hampton Classic, and more.
In the equitation ring, I’ve recently moved up to the 3’6” medals, and 2025 marks my first full season at that level. I have qualified for Hamel Medal Finals, Jump Seat Medal Finals, Hunt Seat Medal Finals, and am currently ranked top 40 in the NCEA East Coast standings. A recent highlight was placing 5th in the Junior/Am National Derby at WEF, where I was the second-highest scoring junior overall.
Before moving into the juniors and equitation, I had a very successful pony career. In 2023, I was Champion in the Small Greens and earned Reserve Grand Green Pony Champion at Pony Finals on a pony I helped bring along myself. I also competed at Devon and indoors multiple times, with top ribbons in the smalls, mediums, and larges, which gave me a strong foundation as I transitioned into the horse divisions.
Beyond the show ring, I’m passionate about all aspects of horsemanship. I’m hands-on at the barn — riding extra horses, cleaning tack, helping my trainers, and supporting the younger riders in our program. I volunteer year-round at equine therapy programs, including Vinceremos in Florida and CTree in New York. These experiences inspired a school research project on equine therapy, allowing me to blend my academic interests with my love of horses.
I’m looking forward to the opportunity to ride in college — to work with new horses, challenge myself in a team setting, and grow as both a rider and a person.
